Course Details

The ISTQB® Advanced Level Test Management (CTAL-TM) certification provides the knowledge and competencies to take responsibility for managing all the testing activities across the software development lifecycle.

It covers everything from how to design a suitable test approach for the project based on the organizational test strategy to building a test team or testing competencies to complete the necessary testing.

Test Managers have in-depth knowledge of the test process and structure it for specific life cycle models, such as V-model or Agile.

They can set up, monitor and control a risk-based test project.

They can create a review plan for static testing and manage a defect lifecycle.

Further, they are able to improve the test process and introduce tool to enhance testing.

Finally, they will be able to create optimised test team to execute the tasks of the test plan.

With the internationally recognised ISTQB® Certified Tester Advanced Level - Test Manager (CTAL-TM) certification, you will be able to prove your knowledge, particularly with regard to test management aspects.

Audience

This Advanced Level qualification is aimed at anyone involved in the management of software testing. This includes people in roles such as testers, test consultants, test managers, user acceptance testers, scrum masters, project managers or product owners.

This Advanced Level Test Management qualification is also appropriate for anyone who wants an advanced understanding of software testing such as project managers, quality managers, software development managers, business analysts, IT directors and management consultants.

Holders of the Advanced Level Test Management Certificate will be able to go on to the ISTQB® Expert Level software testing qualifications.

The certificate is recognized internationally and demonstrates the candidates’ professional competence and credibility in test management.

The ISTQB® Certified Tester Advanced Level – Test Manager or Test Management certificate is valid for life and does not require renewal.

Skills Gained

Manage testing in various software development projects by applying test management processes established for the project team or test organization.

Identify test stakeholders and software development lifecycle models that are relevant in a given context.

Organize risk identification and risk assessment sessions within any software development lifecycle and use the results to guide testing to meet the test objectives.

Exam

The Advanced Level Test Manager exam comprises 50 multiple choice questions, with a pass mark grade of 65% to be completed within 120 minutes.

Participants that take the exam not in their spoken language, will receive additional 25% more time (an additional 30 minutes), for a total of 150 minutes.

Prerequisites

To be able to recieve the certification after a successful exam, ISTQB® mandates that you are a holder of the ISTQB® Foundation certificate and have 18 months of experience

The training can be followed without prerequisites. However, we believe a few years experience in testing is necessary to understand all concepts in the training.
